Think you can do better than these two? Then you better scrape off those skis and get yourself ready for the first event of the 2025 S.F.C. season, because I know these two will be.

Stay tuned for a date and registration details for the Sofie Manarin Loppet in February.

Running Press Release – October 27, 2024Laurentian University Cross Country
“Laurentian Women 9th, Men 11th at OUA Cross Country Championships”

Laurentian’s Cross Country Running team competed this weekend at the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Cross Country Championships hosted by the Nipissing University. Teams from seventeen OUA universities competed at the championships over a challenging eight-kilometre course at the Osprey Links Golf Course in Callander.
The Laurentian women ran to a ninth place finish in the overall team scoring. This matches their placing from a year ago. The Vees were again led by Angela Mozzon (Sudbury), who was competing in her final OUA championship for Laurentian and placed 42nd in a time of 31 minutes and 32 seconds. Fourth year nursing student Kristen Mrozewski (Sudbury) was the next Vee across the line, placing 52nd place in a time of 32:02. Also contributing to Laurentian’s team score were third year kinesiology student, Abby Lanteigne (Sudbury), 61st in 32:47, first year kinesiology student, Georgia Lepage (Sudbury), 64th in 33:01 and 5th year education student Sarah Booth (Peterborough), 70th in 33:32. Displacers for the Vees were Maeve Blake, 82nd in 34:33 and Charlotte Grenier, 84th in 34:37.
The Laurentian men dropped one position from last year’s championship with an 11th place finish in the team standings. Keon Wallingford (North Bay) again led the Vees by placing 32nd in 26:00. Third year nursing student, Brandon Radey (Sudbury) was next in with a time of 26:56, good for 50th place. Also contributing to Laurentian’s team score were Patrick Leroux (Wingham), 64th in 27:39, Owen Roney (Sudbury), 74th in 27:52 and Travis Annett (Sudbury), 86th in 26:421. Also competing for Laurentian were TJ Green (Manitoulin), 98th in 30:57 and Alan Wilkin, 99th in 30:58.
“I’m extremely proud of how our senior athletes, Angela, Kristen, Sarah and Keon performed in what is likely their final cross-country race as a Voyageur", noted Vees head coach, Darren Jermyn. "We also had four rookies compete for us today and they definitely held their own so things are looking good for the future. Kudos to Nipissing University for hosting a great championship with an excellent course that tested all of the OUA schools, which is easily the strongest conference in the country.”
This concludes the varsity cross country season for the Vees. All members of the team will join their track & field teammates with the competitive indoor season beginning at the end of November.
