Half Marathon, 10km and 5km Races

RACE TIME

9:00 a.m.

The 2019 Hypothermic Half started off living up to the Hypothermic name. Temperatures during the early morning setup were a sunny -27C. By run start conditions were far improved with the thermometer reaching -21C. The sun did its job and warmed things up considerably, and it was a great day for a run (to about -15C by the run completion) . Or for dancing at the finish line..

There was an obstacle we had to overcome. Heavy snows in the last few days made our standard course unusable. Organizers scrambled and made the decision early on Sunday morning to reroute the course to a safer layout (map below). The obstacle may be a blessing as most participants preferred the new course over the old.

As always there was a brunch at Buzzy's to recharge and brag about run exploits.

Thank you to the volunteers. Dan and Linda at the water station, Jenny, Terry and Eric our only marshals, Lise on the finish line, Stephanie as sweep and to Jessica for most of the photos.

Register your run crew in teams of 5 and see who comes out on top!
Accepting run groups of all types- anyone from competitive groups to friends who motivate you to get moving!

Registration Details:
Teams of 5 – From competitive groups to friends who motivate you to get moving! Each member runs a 2K distance in this 10K relay.
Individual Registration - register as an Individual to be assigned to a team.
Awards to 5 Teams in each City.
Every participant gets a black cotton poly long sleeve tee (Womens XS-XL / Mens S-XXL ) and a black toque.

Hal Brown Last Chance Indoor Track Meet

University of Toronto, February 15, 2019

This weekend, the Laurentian indoor track team competed in the Hal Brown Last Chance meet at the University of Toronto. They returned with one medal and three OUA-qualifying standards in what was the final meet of their regular season.Their medalist was first-year runner, Eric Gareau, whose photo-finish in the 1000m earned a bronze medal. Gareau’s time of 2:30.93 was only 2/1000 out of the silver medal position.The meet included large fields from 10 universities, including Waterloo, Queens, Laval, McMaster, Toronto, York, Windsor, Western, Laurier and Ryerson. A number of track clubs were also involved.
