Sudbury Fitness Challenge Turkey Gobbler

Kids 1k Start line

All Photos Here

350 participants flocked to the Walden Cross-Country Fitness Club in Naughton on Sunday work off some of that turkey, cranberry sauce and stuffing during the Turkey Gobbler Trail Run.

The event is now in its 17th year and is the final outing in the Sudbury Fitness Challenge series. There's a one-kilometre kids' walk/run, a three-kilometre walk/run and an eight-kilometre walk/run.

The series is designed to promote a fitter lifestyle. It appears the organizers have been successful in that endeavour.

    Statistics:

  - There were 340 people at the Gobbler on Sunday. That's gotta be a record, right?
  - 1,759 unique participants took part in the Fitness Challenge this year; 778 men, 981 women. This is a huge 30% increase from 1348 participants in 2017.
  - Totaling 6405.25 points would have been enough for first place, but since the best 6/7 rule has been implemented, Todd Withers lost out to our overall men's winner Kelly     Thompson by 87 points instead of beating him by 90 if this were to happen in another year...

“We’re thankful for our amazing trails, and want to celebrate them on Thanksgiving. Come enjoy the trails at our family-friendly trail run. Distances
for everyone, shorter routes are stroller-friendly.”
