Hello Everyone,

I actually contemplated canceling this one....
see Archives
We didn't cancel last week's run and this week
we also provided Hypothermic 1/2 (Part 2) for those who missed
Part 1 and those from the first event who wanted to ensure they
completed the full distance.
Run day conditions were excellent with the sun
shining, no wind, fully plowed roads and sound footing. Too
bad we didn't have those conditions last week. Ten runners tested
the course and came away satisfied with their first finishing
medal this year.
Note: From Lise Edwards - Running Room Manager
- "For those who registered
but were not able to attend either event, your kits will be
at the store for pick up when you get the opportunity.

Devon in Turin
For those of you who don't already know, TNOR alumni and
Sudbury native, Devon Kershaw,
is in Turin, representing Canada on the Nordic Skiing team.
Devon competed this morning in the Men's
Team Sprint (it's a two-man relay). He and his partner,
George Gray placed 6th in the semi-final and did not advance
to the final (I don't think they showed it on TV - but watch
the later coverage, maybe it will be shown). According to
the commentators, Devon showed excellent fitness and raced
very well, but his partner was off his form).
Want to send Devon a good-luck wish? Email
him at:

Our sincere
condolences to Track North and LU XC alumni, Sarah
Hill (Andrews) and her family. Sarah's husband, Paul,
passed away this weekend. I can remember when Sarah
and Paul would put up the entire Track North crew
in their Burlington home when we attended the Hamilton
Spectator Games.
You
can read his obituary and send an email
message to Sarah and family by visiting the following

Welcome
to Mike's Tri Adventure
My name
is Mike Coughlin and I am a triathlete from Sudbury,
Ontario, Canada. In 2001 I started training for
triathlons for fun and fitness. I discovered that
the sport also provides great opportunities to learn
about yourself and meet fascinating people.
This
winter, I decided to follow my triathlon dreams
and train full time for 5 months, visiting several
triathlon hotbeds and training my body and mind
to be stronger than ever. Along the way I look forward
to meeting interesting people, seeing some new places
and taking the experiences as they come. I designed
this website to write about these experiences for
myself, friends and family. |

Escaping the Snow
So I heard that the Sudbury
version of the Hypothermic Half was indeed more hypothermic
than mine, with huge amounts of snow and wind. Some pretty
hardy runners there in Northern Ontario. If you are interested,
there are some great pictures posted on Paul Graham's
website - www.paulgraham.ca.
Speaking of the Northern
winter, I have had a number of athletes ask my advice
about getting away for a week to do some training someplace
warm. I just happened to be planning my trip back to North
America from New Zealand and managed to arrange a couple
of weeks in North Carolina, where I will be hosting a
triathlon training camp.
