Sudbury Running Room's and the Y.M.CA's2nd Annual Resolution Run took place this New Year's Eve at 6:00 pm as 48 hardy participants headed out from the "Y" on a 5km tour to the Bell Park Amphitheater and return. Awards, prizes and, even more importantly, hot chocolate and soup awaited the finishers.

Nicholas Wolynsky was our fastest male runner on the day (19:28) and Melanie Muise took the ladies crown (21:44). ( Results Here)

All participants were provided with light sticks and the marshals brought flashlights to keep everyone on track. Highway flares provided a festive atmosphere as they provided lighting for the pathway from Bell Park boardwalk to Paris St.

It was great to see enthusiastic participants out including the North Bay crew and, of course, ALL YOU VOLUNTEERS.

Next year the run will take place on New Years's Day at 12:00 pm. Make your early resolution to attend now.

Run Club Update - by Lise Edwards

The Running Room Club Update: January 4, 2006
Sudbury Store (Cedar Pointe Plaza)

Happy New Year!!!

What a great time we all had at the Resolution Run on December 31, 2005 at the YMCA. Everyone seemed to enjoy the glow sticks, the course, not to mention the hot chocolate and soup. We had 48 official participants come out for this cold evening of walking and running and our results have been posted at the Sudbury Rocks Website thanks to Vince Perdue and the Sudbury Rocks. Thank you to all of our volunteers who spent New Year’s Eve with us…we would not be able to put on these events without your help. We would like to thank the folks at the YMCA for the venue and allowing us to use the facilities to warm up and shower after all was said and done. Also a special thank you to the generous individual that donated the hot chocolate and the soup for the event, we really appreciated it.

PRACTICE TIMES
Wednesdays @ 6pm and Sundays @ 8:30am

Our clinics will be starting up this week so stay tuned for the running and walking schedules that will be starting next week.

UPCOMING EVENT
Hypothermic Half Marathon – February 5, 2006 - $60 from Jan.1st to February 4th, 2006. This event is limited to 50 participants so don’t delay in registration. The registration fee includes an embroidered fleece toque and a drawstring bag. All participants receive a fabulous post run brunch at Buzzy Browns. This event is to benefit the Canadian Diabetes Association. We’ve already got 31 spots taken so I suspect this event will sell out way before the event so don’t delay…

Mike's Tri Adventure

- by Mike Coughlin

Mike's TRi Website

Welcome to Mike's Tri Adventure

My name is Mike Coughlin and I am a triathlete from Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. In 2001 I started training for triathlons for fun and fitness. I discovered that the sport also provides great opportunities to learn about yourself and meet fascinating people.

This winter, I decided to follow my triathlon dreams and train full time for 5 months, visiting several triathlon hotbeds and training my body and mind to be stronger than ever. Along the way I look forward to meeting interesting people, seeing some new places and taking the experiences as they come. I designed this website to write about these experiences for myself, friends and family.

Just a quick note to wish you all a Merry Christmas. Santa decided to give me a long-awaited wireless internet connection here at the Bottle Lake Lodge so hopefully my updates will become a bit more regular. (Read More....)
